Our Community Services program is committed to working with seniors and children in Lake County. Our goal is to improve total health status and family wellness for all residents of Lake County. It is our purpose to serve children, their families, and the elderly to achieve a sustainable healthy community.

  • Senior Site Program

    Our Senior Site Program provides visits to senior centers throughout Lake County by medical professionals. We offer screenings for blood pressure, heart rate, basal metabolic index, pulmonary function testing, and peak flow.

    We instruct seniors on how to maintain a healthy spine. Seniors learn their current stress levels and what to do about recurring stress, as well as how to maintain a healthy heart.

    Senior activities include filling out a current medication list, taking a wellness assessment test, receive wellness coaching, and participate in healthy back exercises.

    Healthy Kids Are Contagious Program

    The Healthy Kids Are Contagious Program teaches children that they are in charge of their health. All classes are designed to reinforce the messages of choosing healthy behaviors which are proven to create good health. All classes are one classroom session unless otherwise stated. Teachers will be given a packet with course objectives and follow-up activities for reinforcement. Any elementary, middle, high school in Lake County is eligible to receive training through the Healthy Kids Are Contagious Program.

    5 Keys To Wellness - This simple Kindergarten lesson introduces kids to the 5 Keys To Wellness: self-love, breathing, balance, positive choices, and trust.

    The Flu Crew To The Rescue - A kid-friendly hygiene program that teaches first grade children about personal hygiene through storytelling and hands-on activities with the goal of raising awareness about germ containment.

    Go! Foods - An introduction for 2nd graders teaching how to eat for health and energy. Students learn the hows and whys of focusing on foods that give them nutrition with less fat, sugar and salt.

    In A Heartbeat - 3rd grade students learn the basic physiology and anatomy of the cardiovascular system along with the importance of caring for your heart as the most important muscle in the body.

    Back In Action - The goal of this 4th grade program is for kis to learn the importance of maintaining a healthy spine through posture, exercise and the avoidance of stress on their back (emotional or physical). Our spines can degenerate very quickly when we have not applied exercise and/or maintained back health. many illnesses originate from lack of spine health. Kids who learn these habits early are healthier and pain-free in later years.

    Physical Fitness Testing - A comprehensive preparation and testing program for 5th graders that incorporates the state-mandated FitnessGram program with a positive educational and preparation program. The program is designed to minimize student-to-student competition and maximize individual fitness progress.

    Create Your Health - This middle school program teaches the importance of the 5 Keys To Wellness; self-love, breathing, positive choices, balance and trust. Over the course of six 45-60 minute sessions, students will be introduced to the 5 Keys and make their own wellness wheel from the results of their current state of health. The goal is for kids to learn to apply all 5 Keys to their everyday lives and become healthy role models.

    Playing It Safe - This class is an introduction to how to use basic hygiene measures to protect against the serious and difficult to treat MRSA skin infection. Middle and High School students will learn about MRSA and how to minimize their risks of becoming infected with MRSA as well as other common skin conditions associated with sports participation, through utilization of proper personal hygiene, locker room etiquette, and isolation techniques.

    Leadership University - A high school leadership program designed to develop leadership and teamwork skills as well as introduce the 5 Keys To Wellness. This program is adaptable to students who self-choose a leadership role and those who have yet to find their leadership potential.

    Bee Well Challenge - A simple, fun and rewarding 4-week program fo 2nd through 6th grade classes designed to motivate and sustain the development of healthy habits. The "Bee Well Challenge" involves students tracking their progress in the areas of eating well, being active, and responding to stress. Students take home a weekly log in which they write down their successes in these areas and return the log at the end of each week. The teacher has a classroom poster on which she logs her successes as a role model for the class. Student logs are turned into the teacher or a classroom parent weekly and reported on a simple form to our program to receive weekly prizes and a final classroom incentive.

    Healthy Mascots - Utilize our mascots to promote or enhance your school events and raise awareness. Our active and fun mascots love to visit class parties or school-wide functions.

    Hospital Tours - Tours of our hospital can be arranged to fit the needs of individual classrooms or grades. We can personalize your visit to enhance units of study or introduce careers in healthcare.
