At Sutter Lakeside Hospital, we look to the community we serve to identify and meet local health care needs. Providing free health information, classes and events is just one of the ways we can give back to our community. We have developed several programs to inform and educate Lake County residents about a number of health concerns.

Ready For A New Outlook on Life?
Sutter Lakeside Hospital Announces New Session of Wellness University
The Sutter Lakeside Hospital Wellness Center will be offering the next daytime session of the Wellness University beginning Friday, September 8th from 12 noon to 4:00pm or an evening session Wednesday, September 13th from 5:00pm to 8:30pm. Both programs include meals, a four-hour education session each month for three months and weekly movement classes. Participants have the option to add one massage per month and or individual wellness coaching. Prior to beginning the program, participants will take a Health Risk Assessment and general wellness inventory to assess their current state of mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Short and long-term goals are developed to help participants keep on track during the three months.
Participants learn the factors that contribute to health status and how the choices they make influence general health; how thoughts and feelings create reality and contribute to illness; and what tools can be learned to move towards optimal wellness.
Costs associated with the program begin at $150.00. Limited scholarships are available.
Pre-registration is required by August 15th.

Stress Reduction Clinic

Feeling pressed for time? Frazzled? Overwhelmed, tired and feeling the pain?
Bust Stress at Sutter Lakeside Hospital!
Are you ready to let it all go and learn a new way of responding to stress? If the answer is yes, then this is the program for you!
Sutter Lakeside Hospital Wellness Center continues to offer the Stress Reduction and Relaxation Clinic on a year round basis. The next session begins on September 12th and ends on November 2, 2006 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The sessions are held in the Healing Waters Village Spa in the Family Room.
Based on the University of Massachusetts Medical School Model that has been adopted nationally, participants learn to recognize their current patterns of stress reactiveness and how to interrupt those patterns using the breath and a relaxation technique called mindfulness. In addition, participants learn progressive relaxation and participate in two sessions of gentle movement yoga.
“Research has shown repeatedly that breath and meditation techniques such as mindfulness, not only reduce stress but promote health and well-being”, stated Leslie Lovejoy, Wellness Center Director and program facilitator.
